Running 2Pint Software Service Interactively for Troubleshooting and Testing

Symptoms

In some circumstances you may experience unexpected behaviour when running in interactive mode from a console window.

Cause

In several 2Pint Software products you can run the service directly from either a console or by launching the executable through Windows Explorer. Problems can arise if the Service is not stopped before launching interactively.

Please also note that the console will run under the user executing the executable and not the service account (SYSTEM by default) which can lead to access violations and failures.

Solution

To avoid any issues please ensure that the service is stopped first BEFORE kicking things off manually and that the user account used to launch the console has the required privileges.
